Frequently Asked Questions

Our payment terms vary depending on what services you are interested in:

- On set DIT or VTR - full payment for equipment rental and labor is based on a net 30 basis. Production companies may be charged an additional 10% late fee if payments are received after 30 calendar days of the wrap date of principal photography. Digital Film Tech will bill for all equipment rentals and my labor for DIT services, any VTR operator will bill the production company directly for their labor, please pay them directly. Payment to VTR operators have the same payment terms as stated above.

- Motion and Stills production - 50% of the finalized and approved by the client budget is due 14 calendar days (or earlier) before the 1st day of principal photography with the final 50% due on a net 30 basis from completion of the project. The completion date of the project might vary depending on if Digital Film Tech is contracted to do the post production or not. If we are doing the post then completion of the project is considered when the final finished product is delivered to the client. If we are not doing the post then completion of the project is considered when principal photography is wrapped. 

- Auxiliary Transcoding - full payment is due on a net 30 basis from the completion of the project and all the transcoded footage has been delivered to the client. Payments received may be charged an additional 10% late fee if received after 30 calendar days from the day the final transcoded footage is delivered to the client. 

- 3D Printing - 50% of the finalized and approved by the client budget is due 14 calendar days (or earlier) after we finalize a design. We will not start the 3D printing process, beyond a maximum of 3 prototypes, until we receive this payment. The final 50% is due on a net 30 basis from the date we ship the finished product to the client.

The turnaround time depends on the scope and type of your project. We will provide you with a timeline after discussing the details. Each project is unique and almost always contains several variables that can affect the turn around time. Our timeline estimates are just that, estimates and may or may not be 100% accurate. Some things are simply outside of our control, but we do our best to be reliable, accurate and make sure you as our client are 100% satisfied. Having said all that usually we are spot on and deliver an amazing product, on time and on budget. Our goal is to create and maintain long term relationships with our clients we do this by supporting your business needs, visions and values! 

The cost of motion and still productions varies greatly depending on the scope of the project. We will provide you with a quote after discussing the details of your project.

- My main focus is during the pre-production process and being the on set DIT during production. When I decided to add VTR to my basket of services and equipment carts I figured it would be beneficial to select and train several people as VTR operators. This way I can focus on my main skillsets (making sure everything is in order before we shoot and being the DIT while on set) and let others focus on VTR. This also allows us to handle multiple productions with overlapping dates. I do occasionally operate VTR when I don't have any DIT jobs and my other operaters are booked or unavailable. 

- All of my VTR operators are hand selected and trained by me based on my 14 years of on set experience. They all started within the industry and have decided to transition from other on set roles to VTR. 

- Please pay any operator I supply directly. I will bill for all the equipment and my labor, they will bill you directly for their labor. 

Only in very rare instances. Almost all of my equipment is custom-made and requires months of training (both on and off-set) in order to understand and operate in the fast-paced and high demands of an on-set commercial environment. Trust me you want to hire my operators! They know the equipment, have at least 3 years of on-set experience, have great work ethics, and are there to provide you with top-notch service and reliability.
